Production: Circuit Media LLC

Roles: Writer, Producer, Director, Camera Operator, Editor

In 2021, the U.S. Department of State came to Circuit Media with an intriguing story: they believed that a painting in their world-class collection, estimated to be worth $40 million, might be a fake. They were embarking on a connoisseurship study to prove the painting’s purported authenticity and wanted Circuit Media to document the process. Cody was tasked with writing, producing, shooting, and editing this short documentary, which took place across 18 months, in seven states and two countries. Upon publication, the film was featured in The New York Times, The Seattle Times, and other major outlets. The study and film have become go-to sources for Peale scholars regarding the prolific American artist.
