In 2017, Doug McGhee hired Cody to write and produce a short documentary that described his journey to becoming a life coach. Cody spoke with Doug off-camera for weeks to develop trust before, finally, interviewing him on-camera. The goal was then to develop a simple scene that could figuratively represent Doug’s journey. The idea materialized when Doug off-handedly mentioned his doing yoga and meditating in the nearby reservoir. Cody found this both picturesque and metaphorical, and production took place in a single afternoon.
